Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Mastering the Hammock

This is a two page layout from a Mosiac Moments class by Tami Potter's Wish in the Wind.  It's one of my favorite classes to take when I go to the Creating Keepsakes Scrapbook Convention with several of the other NEPA Gigglers.   Tami is a wonderful teacher & her husband, Kevin helps out too.   These pages will also count towards my Splitcoaststampers Scrapbook Goals for January & are the final two I needed to hit my Janary goal of eight pages.  Yay, I made it!!

On the left page, I printed the title in Word on SU Very Vanilla.  I was surprised how well the printer color matched the tan blocks.  The photos were taken in 2010 so again I printed the year in Word & cut them out on my trimmer.  Usually I punch out the numbers or letters but these blocks are 2X2 & (believe it or not) I don't have the right size punch.  The flower blocks were part of the kit & are lightly sponged.  I decided to add the buttons which aren't part of Tami's design but I used them on the right page too so this helps tie the pages together.

For the right page, my journaling was much smaller than the 4X4 bvlock so instead I cut it 4X2 & centered it on the block.  I then added the buttons (which aren't part of Tami's design) to fill in the blank space.  Thanks for looking!!

Silly Funny Faces

I purchased this one page layout from EZ Laser Designs at the CKC Convention in Valley Forge, PA a few years ago.  The laser cut letters are over white but I added an argyle DSP from a Creating Keepsakes' All in One Scrapbooking Kit behind them.  I think the colors match perfectly & make the letters pop.  The photo areas were laser cut too so the photos are mounted behind the white.  I didn't have a photo that fit the vertical opening so I added the argyle DSP below the photo for my journaling.  I placed a narrow ribbon between them to cover the edge.

For a coordinating page, I used a full piece of the argyle DSP.  The photos are matted on white to match the left page.  I was going to add another title but decided on a strip of white with a light blue strip on top with a ribbon  to tie into the the left page.  I also put a clear epoxy quote sticker  acked in blue on the strip.

Here are the two pages together.  This layout will be pages five & six towards my SCS January goal of 8 pages.  Only 2 more to go!!   Thanks for looking!!

Daddy's Birthday Dinner

I'm using this page for three Splitcoaststamper Challenges. Its Task 4 & the final for the January Digital Scrapbooking Progressive Challenge plus I decided to participate in the Scrapbook Variety Stamping Stampede.   It is also my 4th page of 8 for Scrapbook Goals January 2013.  To see how this page has progressed through January you can visit my gallery on SCS.  This is the 1st time I've done a Variety Challenge which was to use stamps on a page.  I decided to stamp the pennants, gifts above the journaling & one of the balloons.  I do all my journaling in Word so I just played around until I was able to fit it into the bottom of the diamond in the center of the page.

When I added the date I decided to put balloons over it.  The center balloon is stamped in SU Cherry Cobbler & they're all punched out.  Then I used 3D Crystal Effects on them to make them look shiny plus I popped them out.  Just love these challenges & I'm learning I can combine them by adding different elements.  Thanks for looking!!

Building The Fort

It's been awhile but I'm finally back scrapbooking.  This 2 page layout is for the January challenge
Splitcoaststampers DGSC095 Inspired by the Hobbit & for Splitcoaststampers Scrapbook Goals-January 2013 Scrap Pages.  I haven't seen the movie & probably won't but the challenge was to use white, two blues, brown & grey.  There was also a cheat sheet & link to the movie trailer but I figured I'd just go with the colors & wing it.  From what I read about the Hobbit I thought the photos from building Zach's fort would work plus it's 2 pages towards my January goal.    It was a sunny day in November so Zach's dad & uncle decided he should have a fort.  Well the pictures tell the story.  I found 2 sheets of paper in the SU DSP Well Worn that looked like wood so I used that as the background (there's the brown). There was also two sheet with different blue patterns but I think it was really the same color (that's 1 color of blue).  I decided to tear them but use them 2 different ways.  I also used screw head brads at the bottom of verticial strips.  From there I arranged the pictures by overlapping them & matted them in white.  The title is cut from my Cricut in grey.  I needed another blue so I added buttons which included another shade of blue.  So I had the white (matting), two blues (paper & button), brown (background paper) & grey (letters).  I also double matted the journaling with white & grey.  Challenge met!  I added SU twine & a couple of hammer brads too!   Thanks for looking!
