Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Vintage Wedding

This was a project from a class at the 2012 Creating Keepsakes Convention in Lancaster, PA at the end of July that I attended with Gigglers, Lisa, Shannon and Jeannette.  These pages will be the 2nd and 3rd in a family scrapbook for my son, Jeff and daughter-in-law Cindy.   I choose pictures of the parents, wedding party and the church.  I love the angle the church pic was taken from.  The class was titled "Beautiful Roses and Me" by Scrapbooking with Debbie (Debbie Lukacs).  This was her design and she provided all the card stock and die cut leaves, roses and scalloped borders plus dew drops.  I used her leaves & borders but I did change out the roses.  Debbie had us make die cut rolled roses which are beautiful but 3D and would work better in a shadow box frame than in a scrapbook.  I did save them for a future project.  We had to bring one 12X12 & three 4X6 photos printed in sepia for a vintage look.  Thanks to Shannon for printing the photos!  The page on the right was pretty basic with the 4X6 pictures mounted on sponged mats.  We added borders and dew drops over the pictures.  The left page is where the detail is.  The card stock had a border of roses and leaves so we had to fussy cut around them, taking out the center.  The card stock was mounted OVER the photo to layer the page.

It's hard to see but we had another identical piece of card stock that we cut roses and leave out of. These were mounted over the same rose and leaves on the scrapbook page with deminionals to give it depth. We then added die cut leaves and roses.  The roses are 3 layers cut from a Spellbinders die.  I used a stylist to shape the petals then before layering them together I sponged the edges.  I added a crystal to the center.(

Debbie did a great job on this design!!

Sorry the 1st picture is so big...I'm new at this and couldn't get it the right size.  TFL!!

Jeff & Cindy's Wedding

I did this scrapbook page in July 2011 at the Creating Keepsakes Convention in Valley Forge, PA.  It was a cross word puzzle class offered through Mosaic Moments by Tami Potter.  Tami's classes are one of my favorites and I take as many of them as I can when I attend CKC each year with my fellow gigglers.  Tami and her husband are super nice and very patient teachers.  She has a unique system for making the mosaic pages.  The cardstock she has is high quality and it is marked so your pictures are always lined up perfectly.  The letters are also from her company and she has other accessories called cornerstones.  If you visit her website you can see all her products and she even offers free downloads on some items.  (I guess that's a pretty good commerical for Tami's company...and no, I'm not on their payroll...LOL)  I did find a free cross word program online that you can type your words into and it gives you a layout which makes this very simple.  My subject was the wedding of my youngest son, Jeff and daugher-in-law, Cindy.  The pictures & letters are punched out using a 1 inch Marvy punch.  SU has one now but some 1 inch punches aren't truly 1 inch so becareful if you purchase one.  I used 4X6 photos so the images were a little larger but you can also punch the pictures out of a thumbnail picture.  I'm using this as the opening page for their family scrapbook that I'm putting together for them.  I'll follow it with some of the full pictures on this page and then onto my grandson....yes, they've been married 10 years this October.  I do have some later scrapbook pages done but I'm a slow scrapbooker and have been sidetracked making cards!!  I hope you've enjoyed looking as much as I enjoyed putting it together.

Supplies:  All from Mosaic Moments by Tami Potter except the photos.

Kimberly's Bridal Shower

This card was for my friend, Diane AKA Cookiestamper's daughter, Kimberly. She's having a fall wedding so her colors of orange and brown are very appropriate.  I heat embossed the wedding gown but wasn't happy with how the center of the gown came out.  I'm not sure if I didn't stamp it good enough or if it was the embossing powder but I did a couple of them and they all came out the same.  Of course I waited until the last minute so I ran out of time and had to go with what I had.  A group of the Giggler's attend so of course we had a good time.  I'm not a fan of games at showers but these were fun.  We used toilet paper and dressed Jeannette up as a bride.  I think it was Susan's beautiful rosette that gave us the edge to nab 2nd place.

Supplies:  Paper - SU Early Expresso, Tangerine Tango, Plumeria pattern; Stamps - Love & Laughter; Dies - Spellbinders Lacey Ovals; Ribbon - SU Early Expresso 3/8";  Enbossing - White.

Judy's Pop-up Birthday Card

This birthday card was for my sister (in-law) Judy.  Although the front isn't anything fantastic, I did have fun making the inside, which is below.  The balloons are colored with Copic Markers.  I do like to color but need to practice shading.

I saw a pop-up card on Splitcoast Stampers done by Heidi Baks AKA hlw966.  I'd never done one of these cards so I decided to follow a link Heidi had to LeeAnn Greff's Blog which gave specific directions.  The directions LeeAnn provided made the card look easy.  I did pretty good making the cuts and folds but I did have a little trouble with a wrinkle when I put it on the card front.  In the end I was happy with how it came out.  Practice makes perfect so I think I'll be making more of these!!

Supplies:  Paper - SU Cherry Cobbler, DPS Hand Drawn, White; Stamps - SU Not So Seriously, Unknown Balloons & sentiment on front.

I Bee Thinking of You

This card is for the SCS technique
challenge TLC388 Triple Stamping / Seamless Tiers.  I had a hard time deciding which stamps set to use.  Amazing with all the stamps I have, I only have a few background stamps!  To do this technique, you cut 3 layers of graduating sizes. I used Daffodil Delight and cut the largest layer 5 1/4 X 4 and made the other 2 layers layers 1 inch smaller on all sides than the previous layer.  Then you stack them together and use a small amount of adhesive to hold them in place.  I first stamped the flower and the bee.  I then masked them off and used the SU Chicken Wire Background Stamp over top of the flower & the bee.  Then you mat each layers.  Easy, huh?  I wanted to give it some bling but I got a little carried away with the stickles.  The sentiment is punched out on the modern label punch and sponged.  I then punch it out again in Daffodil Delight and cut it in half to give it a layered look.    Hope you enjoyed my creation!!

Flip Flops

My latest creation is for this week's Splitcoast Stampers Technique Challenge TLC386 "Let's Make a Beach" designed by Joan Ervin, who is a Dirty Dozen Alumni.  We could use any technique to make a beach from a wave die to real sand.  I decided on the simple way of creating waves and sand...tearing and sponging.  I used 3 layer for the sand and 2 for the waves then sponged the edges.  It's hard to see but I sponged clouds and also distressed the edges of the card.

Believe it or not, I don't have an umbrella stamp or die so I made one from a small oval punch and the top is a small round punch.  I love to see the colorful umbrellas at the beach so I decided on bright card stock.  I sponged the edges to make it look weathered.  The pole is brushed silver card stock.

I found this stamp set back in April at a little shop on our way to a stamping event in Buffalo, NY.  It couldn't have been more  perfect for this challenge.  I stamped and colored the flip flops then cut them out.  The stamped sentiment was torn and sponged.  I was going to put it on the inside of the card but the front just needed something.  The little star fish & shells are part of the flip flop stamp.  I used a marker and randomly stamped them on the sand.  By the way, I've worn flip flops since I was 4...even when they weren't in fashion!

I had to highlight the birds.  This stamp is by Denamidesign and is reversible (?).  Stamped this way it looks like birds but flip it over and it becomes waves.  Cool, huh?

I have to add my partner in crime and fellow enabler, Runs with Scissors AKA Lisa will be so proud that I did another challenge.  Yes, she's got me hooked!

Tea Party Birthday

sc393_color_tbu-jpgI was encouraged to do a challenge by my good friend and fellow enabler, Runs with Scissors AKA Lisa.  I subscribed to Splitcoast Stamper's Card Sketch and when SC393 came out I decided to take the plunge.  The challenge was designed by Taylor (Stagccva).

I rummanged through my stash and decided to use Stampin' Up's Designer Paper Tea Party and it just flowed from there. It was alot of fun and I'm looking forward to the next one.
I sponged the triangle, punch ribbon and paper flowers.  There's a clear button in the center of the flower.  I used DMC floss and tied a bow to add a little detail.

Thanks for looking!
