Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Party Animals

This card was for a shoebox event I went to last weekend.  Everyone designs & makes 2 completed cards then cuts enough for everyone attending the event.  We then set our project up with instructions & in "round robin" fashion we complete each other's projects.  It always a lot of fun with food, chocolate & friendship not to mention all the nice cards I came home with!

The balloon animals are from a really cute stamp set by Avery Elle called More Party Animals & although I didn't use them they even have matching dies!!  I didn't want to see any lines so I stamped them in embossing ink on SU Whisper White & embossed using WOW Clear Gloss Embossing Powder.  They are colored with Copic markers (BV11, BV13, RV10, RV63, G12, G21) & the strings are stamped in Pumice Stone.  The balloons & strings were outlined with Copic N1 for a shadow effect. I added a little sparkle on with balloons with Wink of Stella Clear Brush Glitter Marker then went over them with Glossy Accents to give them dimension.

Once the stars were randomly stamped in Mustard Seed I added a small panel of SU DSP at the bottom then covered the edges with SU Pacific Point Stitched Ribbon. The SU sentiment is stamped on an oval from Tim Holtz Stitched Ovals Thinlit Dies & added to a Spellbinders banner cut from SU YoYo Yellow.

There are other animal shapes in this set so the possibilities are endless!!

TFL!!

  1. This is awesome!! Clear embossing for the outlines and the Glossy Accents were PERFECT for the balloon look. Wonderful idea.
