Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Learning to Fly

This is a tag I made for The Craft Shack's monthly Technique Tags Tim Holtz Style Class.  For March, I chose Tim's day 3 from 12 tags of christmas 2007 where he used multiple colors of distress embossing powder on one stamp.

I loved the idea of using more than 1 color of EP on Tim's wildflower images (fired brick & peeled paint).  Unfortunately, his distressed EP are discontinued but I did have some that I've never used & Lisa had several colors in the shop.  These EPs are so cool I really don't understand why they're no longer made. When heated, they're rough (distressed), not shiny plus you can't overheat them!  Of course you could use any type of EP using this technique so check out the link above to Tim's tag & give it a try!

So with an old product, I used a few new ones...all of the oxide inks except a few. They are so creamy & blended perfectly on my background!  I love the way they look after being spritzed with water.  I can't wait to use them in more projects!!  The new mini butterfly die was perfect for the finishing touch!
