Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Happy Bee-day!

This month our group, the NEPA Gigglers will be celebrating 4 birthdays!  One of the girls, Laney has a honey bee business so I decided to make a punch art bee for her card.  I was inspired by a bee I saw on Pinterest by Barbara Roe.
The bee is made with SU punches:  Ornament - body; Large oval - black stripes & wings; 3/4" - head; I drew the antennas on with a marker.  I think the wings are too big & I should have used the a smaller oval punch.  I went over the wings with Clear Wink of Stella for a little shimmer.

The flowers are stamped using a mask & colored with Copic markers. For the centers I punched a 3/4" circle from double sided sticky paper then added Elizabeth Craft Fine Glitter & colored them with a Copic.

Very easy card...TFL!

Supplies:  SU Cardstock-Daffodil Delight, Whisper White, Basic Black, Velum; SU Stamps-Birthday Greetings, Petal Potpourri; Copics-Y02, Y06, Y08, Y19, Y35, Y38, YG95, E47 & E49;  SU Punches - Ornament, Large Oval, 3/4: Circle.  Ink-SU Basic Black, VersaFine Black, Memento Tuxedo Black, Wink of Stella

Happy Birthday to Mr Fix-It

I recently attend another stamping event & joined the punch art swap which was a full card. April is a busy month for me so I was going to keep it simple so I turned to Pinterest & was inspired by Jessica Lewis's card.  I decided to make the wrenches for a masculine birthday card & kept adding to it.  In the end I'm glad I took the time to add the details.

The shapes are all from SU punches in SU Brushed Silver CS:
  • I used the Window punch first then the 1" circle;
  • From the Itty Bitty Punch Pack I punched the flower then the 3/4" punch;
  • The handle is cut 3/4" X 2 1/2" with the trimmer;
  • I used the flower for the top of the "bolts" & popped one up inside the wrench with a dimensional;
  • I used the Washi Tape punch for "bolt" & cut a small piece for the head. I used my tweezers & ruler to scribe the threads & lines on the bolt head.
I just love the sentiment which is from LittleB's Handwritten Die Set in SU Basic Black. It's on a panel of SU Brushed Silver embossed using to Sizzix Diamond Plate EF.  The card base is SU Going Gray & layered with Real Red.

A very fun card to make!  TFL!!

Lively Little Critters

This is a punch art ATC (1 of 20) I did for the Gigglers as a thank you gift for attending my SU party.  I was inspired by a card on Splitcoast Stampers done by France Martin.  I though it would be fun to make a miniature version with a few changes.  I know bunnies don't have their borrows in trees but Iet's pretend!  I used Tim Holtz's Wood Grain embossing folder with a technique we had recently used at my SU party.  Using an ink pad, ink the inside back of the embossing folder (if your folder has sharp bumps like Dotted Swiss, ink a stamp block & run is over the folder or it may ruin the ink pad).  Then put the card stock in the embossing folder & run it through your machine.  I used Chocolate Chip ink & Close to Cocoa card stock.  This technique gave the wood grain some depth.   I then used a circle punch to make the "burrow".  The punched out circle is inked with Chocolate Chip to make the inside of the tree look darker & then placed behind the bunny.  The bunny is done with different size oval punches.  The white card stock is sponged with ColorBox Gray Whale & the pads of the bunny's feet are Pretty in Pink & sponged the same color.  The grass is a punch by Martha Stewart.  I used a screw head brad to attach the tag to the tree.  The tail is a 1/2" pom-pom attached with a glue dot & the toes are drawn with a marker.

Thanks for looking!

Wedding Punch Art

I've seen alot of bride & groom punch art cards and decided to do one for my husband's cousin's  son's wedding.  For the bride I used the SU heart punch and a dotted swiss embossing folder.  Then added a 2nd black heart behind it and place 3 white pearls down the center.  The groom's white shirt is the center from the SU heart punch placed on top of a black heart.  The bow tie is from the SU 3 heart punch.  The sentiment is from SU Love & Laughter punched with the SU modern label and matted too.  It's very hard to see but the SU Regal Rose was embossed too.
