Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

Face Painting at the Zoo

This page was for Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Progressive Challenge 6.  The link is to Step #1 in case you'd like to see the progression but this post is the 4th & final step.  This was my first progressive challenge & I must say it WAS challenging. Sometime it's hard not to add something not listed but I will definitely play along again!!  Also you can probably tell but it's not digi.  Task 1 was to have 1 or several photos in the middle of the page to cover the entire width of the page with a small strip above & below the pic.  Then add another photo at the bottom left with something vertical on the left.  Task 2 was to add color or grunge at the top left so I sponged...I wished I would have used a spritz.  Task 3 was to add a strip so I did at the top  Below are more of the parts of the tasks that involved the photo in the lower left.

This section of the layout covers all 4 of the tasks.  Task 1 started out with the picture, which is popped out & vertical photo strip.  For Task 2 I added the easel, paint tubes, dog bone (thanks to Diane for the suggestion), library clip & tag.  The 3 circle mirrors, smile photo strip & string was added for Task 3.  The journaling at the right was part of Task 4 & is popped out too to create a shadow.

This is part of Task 4 which is to add a title. I used 4 different types of letters plus I added paw prints for the dog (there are 4).  The word "face" is a silver foil, "Painting" looks like water colors, "at the" are blue & green, "ZOO" is an animal print.

What a fun layout and yes, there will be a second page to this LO which will be more pictures from our visit to the Philadelphia Zoo in October 2011!!

Lisa's Birthday Card

As the title says, this is Lisa's (SCS Runswithscissors) birthday card.  Lisa is the only NEPA Giggle who has a November birthday so she was the guest of honor at our Gigglefest tonight.  Another night of good food & lots of laughs!  Well onto the card.  The only thing that's not Stampin' Up is the inside sentiment which is shown below & is specificly for a November birthday.  It talks about orange, red & gold leaves so I had to go with the leaves on the front.  I decided on the oak leaves because I wanted to use the acorn.  They are from a 2 step set but I didn't have good luck with it so after stamping one of the steps, I cut them out then sponged the edges in a co-ordinating color.  Lisa said the sentiment is one of her favorites...how lucky is that!

This is the inside of the card...don't you just love the sentiment?  There are 12, one for each month.  I did do the 2 step for the acorn.  It's OK but I've got to practice on them.                                                                             Happy Birthday Lisa!!

Christmas Traditions 2012

This 2 page layout is for two challenges, the Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Day Celebration & the My Favorite Things Scrapbooking Challenge.  The details are below.

This is my final page & the 5th challenge for the Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Day Celebration.  Yeah, I got all 6 done (I did #6 before #5)!!  The challenge from Terri (SCS 3Fries) was Persnickety Holiday Preparations & it had to be about a holiday tradition you are fussy about & you  had to use the word persnickety on your layout.  Now I really had to think about this one because I'm no persnickety about much.  In our house the motto is "it's good enough for who it's for"...that's according to my DH.  Of course in the past it has backfired on him!!  This page was a project we did at Faye's SU party a few years ago.  It was her design & I put it together.  I thought it went perfectly with my persnickety holiday tradition!

This page is for Splitcoaststampers MFT (My Favorite Things) Scrapbooking Challenge.  There were a couple of layouts you could chose from & I didn't follow it exactly.  I flipped the 3 photos from the left side of the page to the right side & put the other photo at the top instead of the bottom.  I figured it would be OK since I saw other LOs in the gallery that had been changed.   I did a continuation of the left page of Santa's suite & since the buckle was on the other page I left this blank.  I was going to tuck a glove into the belt but decided I wanted to add more journaling.

Supplies - Card stock/paper - SU Textured Cherry Cobbler, SU Textured Basic Black, SU Whisper White, SU Gold, SU Cherry Cobbler DSP; Ink - SU Cherry Cobbler.

Learning to dive at Camp Poppop 2012

Here's challenge #3 for the Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Day Celebration Challenge from Terri (SCS 3Fries)  She provided a link to Stampin Up who was celebrating DSDC by giving away 3 free downloads & 50% off some others last week.  Terri's challenge was to follow the links & use one of the free downloads. For traditional scrappers she asked us to use chevrons, arrows & great colors.  I really had to search for paper with chevrons but I found one in orange in a 6X6 pack from BasicGrey.   I  thought orange went pretty well with teal which went with the diving photos and a page was born!  I decided to mix up the fonts for the titles.  I used rub-ons, a die cut, stamped cut out numbers plus one that was printed from Word.  I had just purchased the arrow sizzlet from the SU clearance rack...how lucky was that?   I wasn't sure how I was going to use the chevrons or arrows but once I got started it just fell in place...thanks Terri for a fun page!  I  matted the photos & journaling in paper from a DCWV stack.  I also downloaded the free digi kits so I can start looking at digi scrapbooking.  On to the last challenge #5!  I think I'll be able to get them all done by tomorrow night...YEAH!!

Supplies:  Paper - SU Taken with Teal CS, DCWV Indian Summer Fall Stack (orange), BasicGrey Plumeria (chevron); Stamps - SU Alphablock Numbers; Misc - Autumn  Leaves Rub-on Letters, EZ Laser Design Poppop Die Cut, SU Sizzix Sizzlet Curves Ahead,

America's Pastime

This layout is for the Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Day Celebration Challenge which started last week.  The LO covers Challenge #4 & #6.  The deadline is tomorrow night, Nov 11th around 11pm so I have 2 more challenges to do before then.  These layouts will also count towards my November goal of 8 pages...now I only have 3 more so I should be done tomorrow too!

The left page is for Challenge #4 from Wendy B (SCS Wendella247) & was to use colors from our country's flag (some scrappers are from other countries).  We were also directed to Kristins Scrap Design for a free digi LO design from 2011.  I'm a traditional scrapper so I just followed the LO.  I didn't have any patriotic photos but since baseball is called America's pastime I decided to use that as my subject.  I found the background paper in my stash which tied into the patriotic, red, white & blue theme.  The white 8X8 center is matted in SU Brilliant Blue then stamped with matching blue stars then I sponged over it with SU Real Red.  I'm really not sure what to call the other image I stamped in Real Red.  I wrote the year on the jewelry tag & looped it over the baseball brad in the upper right of the photo.  There's a bat & ball sticker at the bottom right of the photo.  I was inspired by the title from Wendy's LO so when I stamped the title I alternated the colors & then cut them out.

The right page is Challenge #6 & also from Wendy B (SCS Wendella247).  We were give an option to either use a design from a past challenge by Patti"s (SCS princessp1971) or Sally (SCS showmestamper).  Because of the # of photos, I decided to use Sally's challenge #38.  I wanted to co-ordinate this LO with challenge #4 (remember I'm a 2 page girl) so I matted the photos.  Sally used a torn piece across the center so I stamped & sponged it to matched the left page.   I have a lot of pictures printed & ready to go so it took me all week to decide which to use on which challenge.  Once I did it went pretty quickly & I'm so glad I'm using things from my stash!  I'm sorry the photos are so dark...I need to work on photography skills!

Catch of the Day

Well as you can see I'm back to a two page layout.  I'm like that potato chip commercial...bet you can't make just one...LOL.  Well anyway, this is the 2nd challenge of 6 for Splitcoaststampers Digital Sscrapbooking Day Celebration.  Again I'm a traditional scrapper but everyone was welcome.  I have until 11:30pm next Sunday to complete the other 4.  It was designed by Wendy B (SCS wendella247) & her challenge was to:
  1. Use at least two shaped photos (anything other than squares or rectangles).  I used a lot of rectangle photos (12) but there are two in the upper right corner of the 2nd page that are shaped different.  I used the Spellbinders Large Deckled Rectangles on all the photos but those two I turned them a little & ran them through the Cuttlebug again so they're no longer a rectangle!  Challenge met!
  2. Use at least 2 background papers.  My 1st background paper is a blue distressed Huckleberry Pond paper by The Paper Loft.  The 2nd background paper is from The Paper Loft too & is from a pack of Hooked on Fishing.  I placed a 2 1/2" strip at the bottom of each page so it appeared the fish were swimming in the water below the blue sky.  Challenge met!
  3. Use some rickrack.  I had rub-ons by Martha Stewart that were different colors of rickrack so I used the blue at the top of the fish paper to simulate waves.  Challenge met!
  4. Use a title & at least one line of journaling.  The title I used was from an accessory sheet titled Here Fishy, Fishy by The Paper Loft. I cut it in half & put it on both pages.  I did a lot of journaling lines.  Challenge met!
  5. Use 3 clusters of 3 or more items.  This was the hardest part of the challenge.  Cluster 1 was 3 fish cut from a left over piece of paper & hung on a stringer (a piece of  DMC  floss).  Cluster 2 are 3 fishing hook eyelets from The Eyelet Outlet.  Cluster 3 are 3 fishing lures stickers from EK Jolee.  Not sure I like them but I couldn't come up with anything else.  Challenge met!

The close up at the right shows the fish on the stringer.  I also used a piece of twine net on each page the used dimensionals to put the title over top of it.  I bought a large piece of this netting at the CKC in Lancaster this summer.  Didn't have any idea what I was going to use it for but it looks like I found one!

Thanks for looking!

HoHo...OhOh, CRBT

It's very unusal for me to do a 1 page layout but this is for
Splitcoaststampers Digital Scrapbooking Day Celebration Challenge & who knows maybe I'll add the 2nd page later!  Although the day is for digi, all scrapbookers were welcomed.  This is not digi & I used supplies in my stash (YEAH) & it's not a kit.  Terri (SCS 3fries) designed the 1st challenge which was to do a CAS (Clean and Simple) LO using ONE photo (stacked if you like), no layers just a great background paper. You could use other papers to fill punches, & minimal stamps & embellishments! Use texting/chat or Twitter lingo in your title or journalling!  I just loved this pic of poor Zach so it was perfect for this LO.  I only had 1 pic so I copied it.  They didn't turn out very good but you only see the edge.  After I layered them, I didn't like how the layers looked at the bottom so I covered it up with my journaling panel.  In the upper left corner I added a holly brad. For the title I had two embellishments that said HoHoHo so I cut them apart & turned one upside down so it would say H0H0 OHOH then added the texting lingo CRBT (Crying Real Big Tears...perfect huh?).  It's hard to see but the HOHO came with a little bling on it.  I have to admit although I text I don't use lingo much & had to research it.  That was the hardest part of this challenge...LOL!  Thanks Terri for a fun challenge!!

Supplies:  Paper - BoBunny 12th St Nick Holly Berry, SU Very Vanilla CS; Embellishments - EK Jolee's (HOHOHO), SimpliCraft sheet of sticker letters (CRBT), unknown brad.
