Many years ago, my sister (-in-law), Judy, Retired2stamp, invited me to a Stampin' Up Party. I was drawn to the 6X6 recipe card swap our local group was doing and had wanted to scrapbook too. I wasn't really interested in card making because I had witnessed my brother (in-law) Ed fold up a handmade card and put it in his pocket. I almost fainted and I didn't even make the card. But after a few parties, I was hooked and now make more cards than I had ever thought I would. My most recent passions are ATCs, tags & altered art. As you look through my blog I hope you can see how I've grown in my crafting ability!

National Honor Society

This layout is for the 8/25/2021 Scraplift Challenge in Splitcoaststampers Scrapbook Goals for August group I belong to.  We were to scraplift Elizabeth G. so I chose her Beach Life Layout.

I used Stampin' Up Manchester DSP, Baja Breeze & Crumb Cake cardstock in the layout.  The photos looked washed out but it's not in-person.

The left page has a pocket in the bottom strip of the DSP to hold the program so it can be slipped out of the page protector.  The quote from My Mind's Eye School/Education Quotations really fit the occasion.  In lieu of a photo, I added an area for journaling with a frame from SU Hodgepodge Hardware in Very Vanilla for the date.  The buttons went pretty well with Baja Breeze.  Across the bottom of both pages I used Autumn Leaves Rub-on Border to imitate the cameras on Elizabeth's page.
The right page has a flourish from Tim Holtz Stripes Elements Grungeboard which is inked with SU Night of Navy then accented with the buttons.

Thanks to Elizabeth G., I loved making this layout & it went together pretty quickly.  The best part was everything came from my stash!

Outdoor Concert

This is my first Mosaic Moments layout in many years.  I had forgotten how much fun it was to do them.  I mostly made kits except for one I did using a crossword puzzle theme & a couple of other that I cut by hand before there were dies!

The patterns I used called for basic sets A & B plus the 4x6 grid die for 1" squares.  All of these sets are in the colorized Mosaic Moments Basic Bundles Die Sets.  The 4x6 Grid Die cuts 24 1" squares but the nice part is they don't cut all the way so you don't lose the pattern whether you're cutting a photo or pattern paper.  When you're ready to use the squares, you just need to snip a 1' square out. For those not familiar with Mosaic Moments, they have special cardstock with quide marks for placing the squares & rectangles.  For this layout, I used MM Red Cardstock which I'm not crazy about for these photos but it does match the American Crafts DSP plus I had limited colors of the grid paper.

Pattern No. 580 - Mosaic Style.  This pattern calls for 3 photos, Basic Die Set A & B with the 1" grid die.  Because of the size of the ticket I used in lieu of a photo, I changed out Set A for Set D

The top 4x6 photo followed the pattern & is placed on a mat cut by the die.  Since the ticket was larger, I used Set D which add another row but I still had to cut it down. This also allowed me to add my journaling.  Because I used another row of squares for the ticket, the photo on the bottom left would have been the same number of rows so I changed it's size from a square to a rectangle.

Pattern No. 506 - Mostly Squares.  This pattern calls for 9 photos & the Basic Die Set A with the 1" grid die.

All the photos worked well with the die size so I didn't need to make any changes to the pattern.  I also chose this pattern because I felt the 1" DSP squares flowed well from those on the left page into the right page.

I'm looking forward to use more of the Mosaic Moments dies including their specialty dies!

1St Solo Road Trip

Here's another 12x12 layout I did for our Wednesday Scraplift Challenge in our Splitcoaststampers Scrapbook Group. For Aug 11th we were to scraplift Christy S so I decided to use her Pirate Party layout.

I wanted to use some type of travel DSP & of course I didn't have anything with cars or a generic map.  I finally settled on SU I Am Me DSP which has suitcases so it worked.  Christy S. used a lot of different colored mats so I was lucky there are a lot of colors in this DSP.  The base is SU Going Gray & the photos are matted in SU Real Red, So Saffron & Pool Party.  I used a couple of embellishments from Jolee's Road Trip pack.

The 2nd page used the same SU Going Gray base & coordinating DSP from SU I Am Me DSP.  The first line of the title is Sticko Alpha Large Foam Black Letters & Jenni Bowlin Vintage Shadow Sticker Letters.  The remainder of the title is from Jolee's Road Trip.  There was a catus for the "I" in Trip so I replaced it with the keys that were in the pack.  I think it worked out pretty well!

Here's what the 2 pages look like together!  I'm pretty happy that it didn't take me long to put this together!  Thanks Christy S. for a beautiful layout to scraplift!  TFL!

Freshman

Both of these 12 x 12 layouts are for a scraplift challenge on Splitcoaststampers August Scrapbook Goals group I participate in.  Every Wednesday we are to scraplift a layout for a specific person's in our group.

For August 4th the person was PrincessP1971.  I chose DSC07280_by_princessp1971 from January 2010.  But by the time I was done with it I felt I had sorta, kinda...not followed her layout so I decided to try another one.

The layout base is from the DCWV High School Paper Pack.  I double matted the photo & the journal square, first in SU Gold Foil to pick up the gold in the DSP then in SU Basic Black to pick up the black in his shirt.  The SU Brocade Blue journaling square also picks up the color in his shirt.  The gold Queen & Co Goosebumps were used on the mat with black Sicko Large Foam Numbers which accented the the black & gold in the layout.  The grouping in the lower left are from Tim Holtz Thrift Shop Ephemera & Small Talk Snarky Sticker which fits school pretty well.

The 2nd layout I chose was Another library project from March 2020.  I feel I nailed this one.  I have to do a little research before I can complete the journaling but I left space for it.

The base is SU Basic Black with a 12 x 9 piece of  DCWV High School Paper Pack.  I matted the photos the same as above with SU Gold Foil & Basic Black.  The journaling area is SU Basic Black with a piece of the DCWV on the left edge.  I'll probably print the journaling on SU Brocade Blue.  I used Tim Holtz Number Brad 9, a Muse Token & an Adornments Arrow.

I used the same DSP & cardstock since they are both school photos taken close together in time.  I almost think I'm going to reverse the layouts when they're placed in the album.  What do you think?

That's the Way the Tennis Ball Bounces

Here's a layout using another one of Cheryl's sketches, Sketch16aug3, from SCS (Splitcoaststampers).

I didn't have any landscape photos so I cut two vertical photos down.  The SU Brilliant Blue base works well with the colors in the photo.  The circles are SU Garden Green because from my thousands of pieces of cardstock I didn't have anything close to the color of a tennis ball!  The strips of DSP are from DCWV High School Paper Stack & I used a few pieces of Little B's Washi Tape.  The only embellishment I added was a brad that says "Tennis" in the title. The sketch has more embellishments but I couldn't find anything else that fit.  I'm sure I have something but after organizing them last year I can't find anything...LOL!  I think it looks bare so I'll just have to keep an eye out for something that I can add later.

Well on to another project...TFL!

You look Marvelous!

I made 2 window cards, one for a friend & the other for my "sister" (SIL) who are having birthdays in August.

Dimensions:
Baja Breeze base cut 8 1/2" x 5 1/2"; scored at 4 1/4"
Whisper White base cut 8" x 5 1/4"; scored 4" & 6"
Hand Drawn DSP cut 5 1/4" x 4" & 1 3/4" x 4"

The largest DSP was adhered to the front of the Baja Breeze base.  The frame was made by cutting a 3 1/8" scallop circle from Bajaj Breeze then cutting 2 1/4" circle from the center.  The frame was used to determine the position of the window then it was was cut from the front panel using the same circle die.  The frame was adhered to the front panel.

Next the Whisper White base was folded & adhered to the inside of the Baja Breeze base.  It doesn't show in the photo but the Baja Breeze has a reveal on all sides of the white.  The inside circle was made with the same circle & scallop dies as the frame.  After the sentiment was stamped, the circle was lined up using the window as a guide. Only the right side of the sentiment circle was adhered to the fold of the white.
The reverse side of the smaller DSP was adhered to the white panel as shown.  The inside image & sentiments was stamped so wasn't seen until the card was fully opened.

The sequins was added for a little bling.

This is one of my favorite stamp sets & I probably over use it but I had to showcase Wanda!  There are 2 more images & several snarky sentiments.  This has long since retired & there are other sets but I've never been lucky enough to find one at a reasonable price.

Anyway enough whining, this card was fun to make & really didn't take long.  TFL!!

Supplies: Stamps-Words by Wanda; Dies-Spellbinders Large Standard Circles & Classic Scalloped Circles Large; Cardstock-SU Whisper White & Baja Breeze; DSP-SU Hand Drawn; Inks-SU Baja Breeze & Momento Black; Markers-SU Baja Breeze, Copics R24, R29, YG61, YG63, YR01, E50, E41, RV10; Embellishments-SU Sequins.

Trap

I had a lot of things for this layout...photos I took, photos from the photographer, tickets & the program. It was too much for a 2 page layout but I didn't want to go with 4. I've never used CTMH Flip Flaps but I had all the different sizes so I decided to use two 6 X 12.

The play was all black & red so I used SU Real Red with a black DSP.  The DSP was torn on 3 sides with the untorn side to the center.  The layout is in an album so the blue is from the album.

The photo above is with the Flip Flaps closed.  I inserted cardstock in each one as a mat.  The program & tickets are on the front of one & photos on the other.    The program is loose so it can be slipped out.  The tickets on the bottom were added to a stamped piece of cardstock.  I was hoping it might prevent the program from slipping to the bottom. but it didn't work.  I might trying using my We R Memory Keepers Fuse Tool to section it off.   Instead of matting the photos, they are trimmed with the remnants of the torn DSP.

The photo above is with both Flip Flaps opened.  The back of the left one has the back of the program adhered (I had several programs) with a few embellishments.  The Flip Flap on the right has more photos.

I learned a few things about using Flip Flaps.  If I could do this over, I would have placed the back of the program at the top so it would appear it was the actual back of the program when the front was opened.  On the right 12 X 12 layout I would have switched the photos so the scenes from the play were on the left & the encore was on the right.  It was too much to take apart....well scrap & learn!  Regardless I'm still very happy with the finished product.

Strawberries & Cream!

This 6X6 recipe card was designed for The Craft Shack's 2nd Fast 'n Free Event.

The strawberry vine is Dare 2B Artzy's...wait for it....Strawberry Vine stamp & die sets.  Sorry, I couldn't resist.

Lisa suggested using colored pencils for this project.  It had been a long time since I'd used them & it made something old new again!  The images were colored using Derwent Inktense Pencils.  This was quick & easy because I didn't need to color the entire images of the strawberries & leaves.  I just scribbled the color around the edges of the strawberries & the veins of the leaves.  The color on those images were smoothed & blended using Spectrum-noir Gamsol Blending Solution with a Pro-art 3 Blending Paper Stump.  I did add a little more color to make them darker & used more Gamsol,  After I added the recipe the vine was popped up using Scrapbook Adhesives3l 3d Foam Squares.

The recipe was provided & tested by my friend, Mary Ann Hicks.  Looks delicious doesn't it?

Thanks for looking!
